If you are shopping for a diamond these days or just want to learn about them I want to discuss H-J colors here.
In my opinion Color is the hardest C of them all to "understand". It means that Size, Clarity and Cut are easier to understand when looking at a diamond than the color, especially when the grades are very close to each other. For example if you will look at two diamonds that have the same size and cut and one of them is G color and the other is I color, there is almost no chance that you can see the difference between the two.
It is understood that each and one of you would prefer buying the best diamond he can get, but my personal belief is that a better cut is more important than color since it will improve the diamond looks much more than a higher color. Further more it will improve its color look visually
For these reasons I would recommend H-I-J colors as the colors that on one hand will keep your diamond with a white look and on the other, will keep it in reasonable price.
As said before a well cut diamond will improve the look of your and its color, that is true mainly for round diamond. It is a known fact that a diamond that is Well Cut especially in the lower colors (I-K colors) will "upgrade" the diamond look in one color grade.
Another fact that you should consider is that in this color range: I-K colors, Fluorescence will improve the color of the diamond. It is recommended to look at a diamond like this in the sun near another diamond that doesn't have fluorescence, just to make sure that the fluorescence doesn't affect its look and makes it look "foggy".
